Area Rug Pads The most important key to the long life of your carpet is the correct Area Rug Pad. In women talk, it’s like wearing the correct undergarments. The Area Rug pad is the foundation to preventing your Area Rug from stretching out of shape. A rug without a pad, Is like installing wall to wall carpet with no pad underneath. Have you ever seen a rug that looks as if it is crooked along the sides? Or one that flips up on the ends? Or that it bubbles? That’s caused from not having the correct pad or not having it installed correctly. Nothing disturbs us more than seeing a beautiful room scene and the rug is either showing the rug pad on the corner or it’s a gorgeous rug or it’s completely bowed on the sides. These mistakes can be prevented by adding the correct Area Rug pad depending on the size, construction, and the application of the rug.
There are three types of area rug pads that we highly recommend: 1. Teebaud Area Rug Pad 2. Durahold Area Rug Pad 3. Nomuv Area Rug Pad
Teebaud pad is a thin pad designed for smaller rugs, runners, and rugs with a slick backing. Slick backing refers to a very high dense machine made rug that is 1.5 million points per square meter, such as Central Oriental rugs or 828 area rugs. Teebaud pads are also designed for smaller rugs on top of wall to wall carpet to keep them from crawling. The grey side of the pad is for hard surface and the white side of the pad is for wall to wall carpeting. When this pad is applied to hardwood it will leave a residue on the wood. But don't fret! If you take a white clean cloth and apply 409 to the towel (not the floor) and gently scrub no harm to your hardwood floors will take place. Remember to always ask the installer of new hardwoods how long you should wait before placing any pads on newly installed hardwoods!
Durahold pads are a thicker pad and the most common pads that we recommend. They are designed for area rugs on hard surfaces. Durahold pads keep the rug from stretching out of shape and keep the rug secured in place. Like all rug pads the rug pad must be cut to fit the rug by trimming the pad 1-1 1/2 inches smaller than the rug on all four sides. This will make the rug lay smoothly over the edge on the pad.
No muv pad is also a thicker harder pad that is used on wall to wall carpeting when heavy furniture is applied to the area rug on top of wall to wall carpeting. This pad keeps the rug from bowing where the legs of the furniture hit the area rug. Remember the correct rug pad will add years to the life of your area rug not to mention make it more comfortable to the touch. ALWAYS USE A RUG PAD!!
