We are often asked how to protect area rugs from spills and stains. We recommend a fabric & rug protector called "ForceField."

ForceField® Fabric Protector is a professional strength fast drying treatment that creates a protective finish that effectively resists soils and stains. It is safe for all types of fabrics and fibers including silk, leather, polypropylene, wool and sisal. Applying ForceField® Fabric Protector to surfaces such as rugs or fabrics creates an extremely thin polymer barrier that prevents spills and soil from soaking into the surfaces of the fibers. As a result, spills simply stay on the surface and can be easily blotted away before they have an opportunity to create a stain, very similar to products made for windshields on vehicles, it repels oil & water-based stains. This product will not alter the look or feel of fabric or rugs, however, always best to test a small inconspicuous area first. Follow application instructions and have proper ventilation when applying, do not walk or touch while wet, let dry completely. One 22 oz. bottle treats roughly an 8' x 10' rug. One gallon treats 725 sq. feet

Directions: We have been using this product for many years and believe it is the best fabric protector on the market. After receiving your area rug place a series of clean old towels, an old sheet, or a plastic drop cloth under all the edges of the rug. This prevents any overspray from getting on your floors. Note: It will not harm your floor, but it will make hard surface flooring very slick so best practice is to cover it. Then spray your area rug with ForceField in an even coat across the entire rug. When spraying the product hold the bottle 6-12 inches above the rug and spray in one direction across the entire area rug then go back and do the other direction again. This ensures you have complete and uniform coverage. The product dries in 3-4 hours with complete repellency in 24 hours. Make sure to have proper ventilation in the space while spraying and again allow to dry completely 3-4 hours before walking on the rug. It’s very important to keep all traffic off the rug while it’s drying. Very important to keep people and pets away during spraying and until it’s completely dry.
