My name is Janice Wells, also known as the "Rug Goddess" and I have been in the area rug industry for over 25 years. I started my career working for a beautiful area rug gallery in Kansas City where I developed a passion for area rugs.
My career took a turn when an out-of-town sales representative for one of our rug manufacturers started drilling me about the current rug inventory in the showroom. With no hesitation, I answered all his questions quickly and efficiently about each area rug. He was so amazed at how well I had memorized the stock and knew the products better than he did, he laughed out loud and called me “The Rug Goddess.”
That evening, I was telling my husband the story, who happens to be a marketer, and how I was nicknamed The Rug Goddess and he laughed and said that's a great name. The next day he purchased the domain and started building me a website called “Rug Goddess” and the rest is history.
Our vision at Rug Goddess is to not only become the best online retailer for area rugs, but to take things a step further by offering in-home consultations. If there is one thing, we have learned about selling area rugs, it is that people struggle to buy the right rug. They don't understand the different types of rugs, the pros and cons of certain manufacturers, how to pick the right size and color, or which rugs wear the best for certain areas or how to care for their rug.
Don't get us started on custom rug sizes and shapes. Most of the popular online rug/retail stores don't have the expertise to help these customers at all.
So, we launched a partner program recruiting interior designers to become local rug goddesses for their area.
Why Interior Designers?
Expertise in Spatial Dynamics
Interior designers possess an innate understanding of how different elements interact within a space. They can visualize how an area rug will complement or transform a room, considering factors like scale, proportion, and flow that the average customer might overlook.
Color Mastery
With their trained eye for color theory, designers can effortlessly navigate the vast spectrum of hues, patterns, and textures available in area rugs. They can guide customers towards choices that harmonize with existing decor or serve as stunning focal points.
Style Savvy
From contemporary minimalism to classic elegance, interior designers are well-versed in various design styles. This knowledge allows them to recommend area rugs that not only match but elevate a client's desired aesthetic.
Trend Awareness
Designers stay on top of the latest interior trends, enabling them to suggest area rugs that keep spaces looking fresh and current. They can also identify timeless pieces that will maintain their appeal and value for years to come.
Problem-Solving Skills
Whether it's defining zones in an open-plan space or adding warmth to a room with hard surfaces, designers excel at using area rugs as solutions to common interior challenges.
Budget Optimization
