How a Virtual Area Rug Consultation Works

Your consultation begins with information about your room, personal style, practical needs, budget, and the result you want to achieve. We then use your photographs, measurements, and conversation to narrow the available options.

1. Tell Us About Your Project

Let us know which room or rooms you are decorating, what type of rug you need, your approximate budget, and whether you are looking for a ready-made rug, large rug, custom rug, hallway runner, or stair runner.

2. Send Room Photos and Measurements

Send clear photographs of the entire room from several angles, along with accurate room and furniture measurements. We may ask for additional close-up images of furniture, flooring, pillows, artwork, window treatments, or fabrics.

3. Meet With Your Rug Goddess

We schedule a phone or video conversation to discuss your room, style preferences, lifestyle, budget, and concerns. This gives us an opportunity to ask questions and understand what matters most to you before recommending rugs.

4. Receive Personalized Rug Recommendations

We research and recommend a focused selection of rugs that fit your room, furniture arrangement, colors, functional needs, and budget. We are not limited to a small group of rugs already in stock.

5. Compare Your Preferred Options

We help you narrow the recommendations to your preferred choices. When compatible products are available, RoomVo can help you compare different rugs in a photograph of your actual room.

6. Review Samples Before Ordering

When available, corner samples, swatches, or small sample-sized rugs can be ordered so you can evaluate the true color, texture, pile, and construction before purchasing a larger rug.

Tips for Taking Helpful Room Photos

• Photograph the room during daylight when possible
• Turn on the room's normal lighting
• Stand far enough back to show the full furniture arrangement
• Take photographs from more than one corner
• Avoid strong filters or edited colors
• Include the entire area where the rug will be placed

Personalized Rug Recommendations for Your Room

Our recommendations are based on your specific room rather than a generic list of popular rugs. We consider scale, color, pattern, texture, furniture placement, flooring, lifestyle, maintenance needs, and budget.

We also explain why a particular rug may or may not work. This may include guidance about the proper size, visible floor space, furniture placement, pile height, shedding, durability, cleaning requirements, or the need for a rug pad.

If we cannot find the right ready-made rug, we can discuss large-size rugs, custom fabrication, and other alternatives that better suit your space.

Review Rug Samples Before Ordering

Colors can appear differently depending on your computer or phone screen, flooring, wall color, furnishings, and lighting. A physical sample gives you a more accurate way to evaluate the rug before ordering a larger size.

Depending on the manufacturer and collection, samples may be available as corner swatches, approximately 18-inch squares, or small rugs commonly measuring around 2 feet by 3 feet.

We generally recommend narrowing your selection to one to three samples. This keeps the process manageable and can help prevent the expense and inconvenience of returning a large rug that does not work in your room.

Sample availability, cost, shipping, and credit toward a qualifying rug purchase vary by manufacturer and product. We will explain the applicable details before ordering samples.

Customers in qualifying Tampa Bay, Central Florida, and Kansas City metro communities may prefer an in-home consultation. A Rug Goddess can evaluate your room, furniture, colors, and measurements in person.

The in-home consultation fee is $95 for homes and businesses within a 75-mile radius of a qualifying Rug Goddess service location, and the fee is applied toward a qualifying area rug purchase.
