Wayside Area Rugs: Textured Wool and Modern Style

Wayside area rugs are a collection of textured wool, wool and viscose, and modern designer rugs, including hand-tufted and hand-woven wool rugs made in India, vintage-inspired machine-made rugs, and the Agio cowhide rugs. Wayside is a great fit when you want rich texture, soft sheen, and a modern or transitional look for your living room, bedroom, or office.

My Favorite Wayside Collections

Hand-tufted wool and viscose

The Pelmeni, Velaro, Lacroso, Ozelia, and Collage collections are hand-tufted rugs, most made in India, that blend wool with viscose for depth, texture, and a soft sheen. Pelmeni brings a deeply textured blue wave design, Velaro offers a tone-on-tone old world look in navy and charcoal, and Lacroso is a bold modern design in sunset shades of orange, rust, and gold. The hand-crafted Vinsi collection layers soft aqua and taupe in wool and viscose, Ozelia is a richly textured mosaic, and Collage features multi-textured, art-inspired designs.

Hand-woven texture

The Fisano collection is hand-woven in India of undyed natural wool with a touch of viscose, in a raised trellis design. The Bendos collection is hand-woven wool in India with a nubby, rope-like texture in ivory, grey, neutral, and charcoal. These are some of my favorite rugs for calm, casual rooms. The hand-tufted Metallor collection adds a multi-textured cut and loop wool design in heathered grey.

Traditional and vintage-inspired

The Lenza collection is wool made in India in traditional oriental patterns with warm ivory, gold, and terracotta tones. The Heirloom collection is machine-made in Turkey of polyester and viscose in vintage-inspired designs, with options in rounds, runners, and large sizes up to 12x15. The Salix collection offers oversized abstract designs with soft fringed edges.

Agio cowhide

The Agio collection is handcrafted from viscose jacquard and natural, undyed cowhide leather in geometric designs, in silver, charcoal, and birch tones. It adds a sleek modern accent to a living room, office, or layered over carpet. See more in my flatweave, jute and animal print rugs.

Wool, Viscose and Polyester: What to Know

• Wool is natural, resilient, and warm, and it hides soil well. It is my first choice for most living rooms and bedrooms.
• Viscose adds a beautiful sheen and highlights carved textures, but it is sensitive to water and better suited to lower-traffic rooms.
• Wool and viscose blends give you the best of both, with wool for durability and viscose for luster.
• Machine-made polyester rugs, like Heirloom, offer detailed vintage designs, a soft feel, and easy everyday care at a great value.

Sizes, Rounds and Runners

Many Wayside collections come in rounds and runners as well as room sizes. Fisano, Velaro, Lacroso, and Ozelia offer round sizes, Metallor and Bendos come in runners up to 9x13, and Heirloom goes up to a large 12x15. Caring for Your Wayside Rug

• Vacuum regularly. Use suction only on hand-woven, cut and loop, and cowhide rugs.
• Expect some shedding from new hand-tufted wool rugs, which settles with time.
• Blot spills right away with a clean white cloth, and never rub.
• Viscose is sensitive to water. Blot gently and call a professional for stains.
• Rotate your rug every few months and use a quality rug pad.
