Jaipur Living is the Atlanta-area home of Jaipur Rugs, a family company founded in India in 1978 that works with tens of thousands of artisans to create hand-knotted, hand-tufted, and hand-woven rugs. Jaipur Living is known for fresh modern designs like the Genesis collection, refined hand-knotted wool and wool-viscose rugs, and select designs available in custom sizes and colors.

About Jaipur Living

Nand Kishore Chaudhary founded Jaipur Rugs in 1978 with a few artisans on two looms. Today the company works with about 40,000 artisans in hundreds of villages across India, helping weavers, many of them women, earn a living through their craft. Jaipur Living carries that mission to homes in the United States, led today by Asha Chaudhary, the founder's eldest daughter.

When you buy a handmade Jaipur Living rug, you bring home generations of weaving knowledge and support the artisans who made it.

My Favorite Jaipur Living Collections

Hand-knotted wool

The Jaipur Living Rhapsody collection is hand-knotted of 70% wool and 30% viscose, with a softly distressed center medallion and decorative border. The Saga collection is hand-knotted wool with a calm, subtly striated design. The Zaira collection is hand-knotted of 100% wool in India in a modern Moroccan diamond pattern, and the Bezem collection is hand-knotted of 100% wool in India in a mid-century modern linear design. The Azad collection is hand-knotted in India of super-soft 100% Afghan wool.

Genesis: hand-tufted modern art

The Genesis collection is one of my favorite modern rug collections. These hand-tufted rugs blend wool and viscose in painterly, abstract designs, bringing color, sheen, and texture to contemporary rooms. Blends vary by design; for example, Genesis Matcha uses 60% wool and 40% viscose. Many Genesis designs also come in round sizes.

Textured and tweed-inspired wool

The Labyrinth collection is hand-tufted of 100% wool in a cut-and-loop pile with a cotton backing. The Cambridge collection is hand-woven wool with a tweed texture and a mid-century modern feel, and the Britta collection is 100% wool made in India in a thick, tweed-inspired pattern.

Traditional, transitional, and natural

For softer, vintage-inspired looks, look to the Province, Cirque, Kaydi, Sevak, Onessa, Poeme, and Citrine collections, including Oushak-inspired designs in Kaydi. The Naturals Tobago rug brings jute texture, and the Catalyst collection is power-loomed from polyester and polypropylene for busy rooms. Caring for Your Jaipur Living Rug

• Vacuum regularly with suction only, or on a gentle setting, on hand-knotted rugs.
• Blot spills right away with a clean white cloth, and never rub.
• Viscose rugs, like Genesis and Rhapsody, are sensitive to water. Blot gently and call a professional for stains.
• Expect some shedding from new hand-tufted wool rugs. It settles with regular vacuuming.
• Rotate your rug every few months and use a quality rug pad.
