Nourison is an American rug and carpet company founded in New York City in 1980, known for hand-knotted rugs, designer collections like Calvin Klein, DKNY, and Christopher Guy, Wilton and Axminster broadloom, and some of the most popular wool stair runners available. About Nourison

Nourison was founded in New York City in 1980 by brothers Paul, Alex, and Stephen Peykar, who began as importers and wholesalers of hand-knotted carpets. Nourison introduced its own hand-knotted program in 1982 and entered the high-end broadloom market in 2004 with Axminster and Wilton carpets. Today, Nourison offers handmade rugs, power-loomed rugs, broadloom, and designer collections from names like Calvin Klein, DKNY, Christopher Guy, and Michael Amini.

My Favorite Nourison Collections

Hand-knotted rugs

The Nourison Silk Shadows collection is hand-knotted of New Zealand wool and silk-like bamboo fibers, with soft modern abstracts that roll like clouds across the rug. The Odessa collection is hand-knotted of New Zealand wool with a space-dyed patina that gives traditional designs a soft vintage look. Both are heirloom-quality rugs for living rooms and primary bedrooms.

Nourison 2000

The Nourison 2000 collection features New Zealand wool with touches of silk, a 3/4-inch pile, and classic Persian-inspired designs like scrolling vines and palmettes. DKNY by Nourison

The DKNY Pure Angles collection is hand-tufted in a loop pile of hand-spun, space-dyed 100% wool with a simple linear design. DKNY Pure Knots brings a chunky, knubby loop texture with spa-like comfort, and DKNY Pure Shades offers vintage-style medallions in a machine-made polyester for moderate-traffic indoor rooms.

Nourison stair runners are some of the most popular I recommend because they combine durable wool with beautiful designs and widths that fit most staircases.

• Grand Textures PT44 is Wilton-woven from 100% New Zealand wool in rich solid tones like Tobacco, Cayenne, Brownstone, Marina, Linen, and Steel, offered in 30- and 36-inch widths depending on the color.
• Grand Parterre brings Oriental-inspired florals and panels in the Kashan, Kashan Elite, Moghul, and Sarouk designs, plus Wild Safari.
• Cosmopolitan runners, like Marquis in a warm harlequin pattern, are made of 100% New Zealand wool.

Caring for Your Nourison Rug

• Vacuum regularly. Use suction only on hand-knotted rugs, loop piles, and stair runners.
• Blot spills right away with a clean white cloth, and never rub.
• Rugs with silk or silk-like fibers are more delicate. Blot gently and call a professional for stains.
• Rotate your rug every few months, so it wears and fades evenly.
